My name is Ilya Haykinson. I’ve started watching Doctor Who in mid-2007, when a local PBS affiliate was showing the first season of the new series. After watching the entire first season (on TV, and by downloading the rest), and then catching up to the show in the middle of the third season, I finished watching the new series and was left wanting more.
My current project is to go back in time and watch the old series. I will attempt to watch the easy-to-find episodes first — either sourcing them through Netflix or downloads — in rough chronological order. I imagine that I will gain an intro to the different doctors, and then I will go back and try to fill in the gaps by looking for slightly-harder-to-find VHS versions etc. I highly suspect that Youtube will be of help in this project.
This blog exists to remind me of the different episodes, and to provide my personal impressions of the doctors, their companions, the writers, and the plot. Feel free to chime in with your comments if you bump into this blog.

What an incredibly strange trip it will be, especially with the 2005 revamp as an intro to the concept of Doctor Who.
I wonder what you will think of Pertwee, the infamous season 17, a young Doctor #5, the homicidal Doctor #6, etc… it’s going to be very odd.
Do you plan on listening to audios or watching reconstructions of missing stories?

On audios and reconstructions: I think on the first pass I might skip some of the reconstructions. Maybe in the second pass I’ll catch up on some of the missing stories.

It looks like you’ve got stalled somewhere, Ilya. Have you abandoned your sojourn or just been waylaid?

Mainly I’ve just been behind on a bunch of other things, and so watching these episodes has been one of those things that are nagging me constantly yet never rising to the level of must-dos.
I think that their time is coming, though, hopefully this week.
